So This Is Christmas

First off, I would love to tell you this is a Joyful, Happy Post about Christmas...

It's not!  Sure, I could write a wonderful post about how I love Christmas, everything from the Nativity to Santa and all the in between, fabulous festivities.  However, it would not be truthful.  I have remained authentic, throughout my ever so short , blogging moments...  I intend to remain as such.
Unfortunately, the past year, actually the past few, have not been conducive to enjoying any type of holiday festivities.  Whether it be Christmas, New Years or any other holiday for that matter!

Please don't get me wrong...

A part of me, still holds onto, what Christmas is all about.  Once upon a time, it was my most favorite time of year.   Right now, not so much.

I've tried to get into the spirit of the season...

I purchased an artificial tree, with lights included.  It sits 4 foot high on the side table in the living room.  I even purchased items from the craft store, to make some ornaments for the tree.  To date, the items are still in the bag, untouched.  The lights on the tree have been turned on once, to take this photo.

I have yet to shop for a gift for my teen...

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve...

My teen isn't worried about Christmas...

(When asked what they would like, the response is "I don't need anything Mom.  We don't have to have a Christmas.")

I will pick up a gift for my teen, tomorrow...

I will bake a Ham, manage to get some ornaments on the tree, when I get home from work (tomorrow), put on my best smile, and make it a joyful day for my teen. (That's what Moms do!)

So this is Christmas...

Wishing you joy, love and happiness!

Until next time...
     Enjoy Life!

  1. I am not the biggest fan of the holidays either. Do not get me wrong love the lights and decorations. It has just become too commercialized. And I feel like crap because I think mt presents are not good enough. And I can not do that happy homemaker thingy where there is a ton of food, house clean, and plenty of gifts. Maybe if there were three of me. Lol
    Thank you for the post!

    1. Thank you for your visit Kathy. It's comforting to know I'm not the only one :). When I was younger, Christmas was a huge ordeal, I'd spend way to much energy & time; as well as money. I guess as we get older our outlook (or circumstances) changes. Maybe we become a little wiser ;)

  2. Sounds like it will be the perfect evening spent with family, and honestly that's the best part anyway! The holiday craziness can be too much, nice to see you'll be skipping that part and enjoying your teen.

  6. Thank you for your honesty and pure words. I love Christmas, I feel the magic and turn into a 8 year old again. This year was different, overwhelming at times, pressure trying to create magic for everyone. Next year, it's goodbye "to do" list and just live in the moments!

  8. I hope it went well. A holiday may not be big and fancy like the commercials show us but it can still be special as I hope it was for you.
